Using FedEx Shipping

Before you can use the shipping plugin to acquire "real-time" shipping rates from the Federal Express Corporation (FEDEX), you must obtain a valid account and license.

Step 1: Register with FEDEX

Visit the FEDEX website and register your company to obtain an account number and agree to the terms and conditions of the FEDEX licenses at this URL: http://www.fedex.com.

Step 2: Register and request to be placed on the Test Server for FEDEX Ship Manager Rate Request API.

You will need to call FedEx's Web Support phone number. Tell them that you have an integration to the FedEx Ship manager API and that you are ready to placed on their test server and to have a meter number established for you account number. The current contact numbers at the time of the writing of this document is as follows: Contact FedEX at Websupport@fedex.com, or contact FedEx Ship Manager API Technical Support Hotline at 1-800-810-9073, Option 1. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to Midnight Central Time. Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time. Closed Sunday.

Step 3: Obtain a Meter Number for Certification

Set the FedEx URL to https://Gateway.fedex.com:443/GatewayDC to start the configuration process. With your account number, the shipping plugin will automatically obtain the meter number that FedEx has created for you in Step 2. Just leave the meter number blank, but add an account number and submit the configuration page, a meter number will be automatically obtained for you and saved when you return to the form.

Step 4: Test your Application

Test and make sure that you are able to request and receive FedEx shipping rate information for your customers via the shopping cart.

Step 5: Request certification

Once you have obtained a DHL account number, print the FEDEXSignupRequestForm.doc located in cgi-bin/shipping/help. Fill out the form and fax to the number located at the bottom of the form.

Shipping, Rating, and Tracking must be certified through FedEx for use in your application. Once you are ready to go through the certification process, send an email to websupport@fedex.com or call 1-800-810-9073 and request certification for the desired services. For shipping certification, please indicate whether you are certifying for Express shipping , Ground shipping, or both. In your email, please include the company name, meter number, account number, and the person that is asking for the certification. They will respond to you within twenty four hours, through email, with the directions that need to be followed.

Step 6: Go Live

Once FedEx has certified you, then you may set the plug-in to go live. Change the submission URL to the live URL which they will provided to you in the FedEx Certification letter. Next, blank out the meter number and press submit to get the new Live meter number.
