Obtaining an SSL certificate

Any Service Provider or website hosting company that can host your website, can obtain a personalized SSL certificate for your domain name. You may also contact ComCity at http://www.comcity.com to obtain a security certificate for your website. SalesCart standard only officially supports an authentic SSL certificate for the domain name where the SalesCart website resides. Using someone else’s SSL certificate defeats the intention and the fundamental concept of secure connections between buyer and seller and reopens the possibility for so called “spoofing” and therefore we do not recommend it as secure.

There are several organizations that will authenticate your company and provide you with an SSL certificate including VeriSign and Thawte. In addition, several organizations such as FreeSSL can provide free or nearly free SSL certificates. Once you have obtained your SSL certificate, and your Service Provider or Web Presence Provider has installed it, and you can get to your secured website by changing your website address from http:// to https://, you may follow this procedure to secure your checkout pages:
