Handling thousands of products is a breeze by integrating the Product Management Plug-in to automatically create a dynamic SalesCart Web.
SalesCart can be integrated with either the FrontPage Database Region Wizard in FrontPage or the Database Server Behaviors of Dreamweaver MX to create databases and display database results. The Product Management Plug-in provides template files to make creating a dynamically driven SalesCart website easier to create. The plug-in provides a basic sample product database, an interactive catalog/database search, a high-level product listing, a detailed product listing, and numerous administrative pages to delete products, or to create and/or make modifications to existing products.
You can also create or use your own existing database and integrate it into your website using either the FrontPage Database Results Wizard or the Dreamweaver MX Database Server Behaviors exclusively. Refer to your design tool documentation for more information about this procedure.
You may also create highly customized dynamic shopping carts by hand directly with your design tool. Documenting how to use the dynamic database capabilities of your design tool is beyond the scope of this manual. With Dreamweaver Server Behaviors, this is much more comprehensive and requires a very sophisticated Dreamweaver designer and use. For FrontPage, we have documented an outline of this process of creating a results page using the FrontPage Database Region wizard based on legacy documentation. Going forward, we support the Product Management Plug-in to do dynamic product integration.
For Dreamweaver, it is up to the designer to know you to create a dynamic results page with the Server Behaviors. Once the dynamic results page is created, we discuss how to integrate the SalesCart Product Link within the dynamic results page. You may skip this entire chapter if you are going to use the Product Management Plug-in.
