Existing FrontPage Web Site

Before converting an existing Web site for use with SalesCart, we recommend that you read the Chapter Getting Started and create your first SalesCart shopping cart from scratch. This will give you valuable insight into the creation of a basic shopping cart web. Once you have completed the Getting Started section, you can continue here to convert your existing FrontPage web for SalesCart.

SalesCart can be added into an existing FrontPage Web by checking the ‘Add to Current Web’ box in FrontPage.

Important: Before doing this, back up your original web site!

Open FrontPage and open the web site you would like to add a SalesCart to.

Make a copy of your homepage if it is called default.htm. Highlight default.htm, then press Copy and Paste. When you create a new SalesCart web, FrontPage always creates a default.htm file. Also make a copy of the global.asa if applicable.

From the menu in FrontPage, select SalesCart>>Create New SalesCart Web.

Choose [SalesCart Pro 3] Shopping Cart, then click Add to Current Web, then click OK.

Answer each of the questions presented to you by the SalesCart Wizard, and the template wizard will create a SalesCart Web within the current Web structure. Refer to the section titled Creating a SalesCart Web for more information about each item on the SalesCart Wizard.

Converting existing shopping cart product pages to SalesCart product Pages

In SalesCart, any Web page can be made into a SalesCart Product page by simply inserting a Product Link.

Click on any of your pages that you have products on by double clicking on the Web page after opening it up with FrontPage Explorer. From FrontPage, select SalesCart>>Add Product Link>>Add [SalesCartPro-3] Product Link.

Click Finish.

Complete the details for each product you are selling. See the Editing the SalesCart Product Link section for information and explanations of each screen of the Product Link component.

Customize the rest of the pages to complete your shopping cart web.
