You can configure SalesCart to automatically compute sales taxes in any state or combination of states. Once you have used this procedure to establish taxes as a whole, you may use the product link labeled Checkout to turn taxes on and off on a product-by-product basis. (See the section titled, "Checkout").
If your products are distributed without sales taxes, you may also prevent SalesCart from adding taxes to the whole order. You configure sales taxes by editing the order database using Microsoft® Access.
1. Start Microsoft® Access and open the order database called shop.mdb.
2. When you open the database, the switchboard menu will automatically start. Minimize the switchboard.
3. Maximize the Database screen. Select Tables, then Taxes.
4. Change the TaxRate field for each state or province for which you wish to compute sales tax.
5. If a selected state or province does not have tax, change the TaxRate field to zero (0).

6. Add any Province information applicable in the TaxState field.
7. Save the table.
Note: If you change all the fields to "0," the sales tax will not be computed for any state. Make sure the "TaxRate" field is set to "0" only for the states or provinces that do not charge tax.
