Converting Your Existing SalesCart Web

When you have successfully installed the new version of SalesCart, you will need to convert your existing SalesCart Web to work with the new version.

To convert your existing SalesCart or SalesCart Web:

  1. Open your design tool and use the SalesCart wizard to create a brand-new SalesCart-X website with the new version of software to use as a template. If you do not know how to do this, refer to the Getting Started section first for information on completing the Web Wizard screens.
  2. Call the new website NewCart.
  3. Since you have installed a new version of SalesCart, the new Web will be created from the new version.

Most of the changes incorporated into new SalesCart versions are contained in two separate folders and in the new version of the mySQL shop database. All of the files in the /sc-bin folder represent new checkout pages. These pages are integral, and represent the most significant changes in any version of SalesCart. The /mall pages are your shopping cart pages. New shopping cart versions typically contain a new version of the component, which must be downloaded and edited into your existing product pages.

Follow this procedure to import these new changed files into your existing website.

Important: Be sure to backup your old website before continuing!

  1. Use your design tool or use windows Explorer to view your OLD shopping cart website and the NewCart you just created.
  2. Replace and copy all of the Checkout Pages in /sc-bin from NewCart to your old website.
  3. Most of these files will have the same name as existing files in your sc-bin folder. Overwrite all of the old files. If you have customized checkout pages, you will need to re-customize the new pages.
  4. Replace and copy all of files and pages in /mall from NewCart to your old website.
  5. You will also need to Replace and copy the mySQL database with the NewCart shop database. You will have to re-configure shipping and taxes in the new database.
  6. Edit each of your Product Pages that contains a product link. Double-click on each of the existing product links on this page to touch the settings and then click ok to save the new product link configuration.
  7. Save each product page once it has been changed.
