SalesCart plugins are additional software components that add to the functionality of the base level software.
SalesCart plugins are not required for basic manual credit card processing. Using the base software and a secure sockets layer (SSL) connection, orders will be securely stored in an order database on the server. This order database will only be accessible by you and your ISP. When you are ready to process your orders, you will request an SSL connection using FrontPage®. Then, using the same credit card processing system you currently use for phone orders, you will process and fulfill each order.
For real-time processing, a plugin called Authorize.Net is included with SalesCart-X. This online processing gateway software is easily integrated into your site and allows for secure, automatic processing of credit card transactions directly through your website. You are responsible for opening a Merchant account with a financial institution that also will also set up your Authorize.Net account. Once the Merchant and Authorize.Net accounts are set up and you have configured your site for use with Authorize.Net, you are ready to begin accepting credit card transactions.
First, the customer places an order with you directly though your website. Authorize.Net recognizes that an order has been submitted, and forwards the authorization request to the customer's credit card issuer and sends the authorization or decline back to you, the merchant. Last, you fulfill the order and Authorize.Net sends the settlement request to your Merchant Bank which deposits the funds to your account, usually within 48-72 hours.
