Validating fields on Checkout Pages

By default, no validation is performed on form fields on checkout pages because this functionality is available for all design tools. Also, form-field validation is a personal decision. Excessive form-field validation can cause shoppers to leave your website and abandon their cart. No form-field validation can result in the need to re-contact customers for additional information or lead to bogus orders. Each merchant must careful measure the amount of form-field validation they wish to use.

In FrontPage

SalesCart uses the built-in Form Validation procedures of FrontPage®. FrontPage® allows you to validate and check form data so that it meets your specific criteria. Integrating SalesCart with FrontPage® form validation gives merchants virtually unlimited flexibility in deciding on the type of data and the criteria they want to ensure is met or allowed.

To enable FrontPage® validation, open your website and double click on the checkout page that you wish to validate the data for. Right click on the field that needs validation and choose Form-Field Validation.

In Dreamweaver/UltraDev

There are a variety of well-built Dreamweaver extensions that perform form-field validation.
